The Story of the World's Best Garlic Bread and One Genius Copy Cat!

he Smokehouse Restaurant in Burbank, CA has been making their Garlic Bread since 1946ish. Touting it as "The World's Best Garlic Bread" since the beginning and tons of people agree, including yours truly. But fear not! You don't need a plane ticket, you can easily replicate it at home with this COPYCAT RECIPE. This is NOT their recipe, that is proprietary. There is one special ingredient in this copycat version you won't believe. Get your tummy ready, you won't be able to stop.

1 Loaf French (or Sourdough) Bread 1/2 Cup Unsalted Butter 2 TBS Fresh Garlic, Chopped 1 Pkg Cheese Powder from box of Mac & Cheese 1/3 Cup Parmesan Set oven to 350. In a small saucepan, slowly melt butter with garlic. Once melted, take off burner and let sit out overnight. The next day, cut the loaf of bread in half lengthwise. Brush all the garlic butter over both halves of bread. Mix parmesan and cheese powder together and pour all over both halves of bread. Bake in a 350 oven for 5-8 minutes then put under the broiler for no more than 30 seconds. Watch it so it doesn't burn! Prepare to fall in love!!
